A little bit County.  A little bit Townie.

100% Shenandoah Valley.

Like most of us in the Shenandoah Valley,  I spend much of my time between my home in Rockingham County with my wife, children, and dogs and my work in Harrisonburg.  I commute the same roads and worry about the traffic on I-81 and how much gas costs to get me there and back.  Like most of us, I worry about being able to pay my rent/mortgage and having the money to afford State Inspections and maintenance on my vehicle.  I wasn’t born into a family of wealth and local prestige.  Like most of us, I have had to work for every single thing I have.

I grew up here in the Shenandoah Valley and after High School joined the US Navy where I learned what it means to serve a cause greater than oneself and witnessed what true, courageous leadership means.  I learned how to lead Sailors into harm's way and manage large, complex organizations.  I learned and live the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment and those values continue to guide my life and inspire me to continue serving my nation, my state, and my community.

I am a father of 4 and spend my hours volunteering with their extracurricular activities in the amazing Rockingham County School District.  I have been a tireless advocate for our Veterans and their families in Richmond, Washington DC, and in our community.  I am active with community service organizations and serve as the President of the Lifeworks Projects.  When I am able to find any free time, you’ll probably find me at home with my 3 dogs in my garden.
